I knew one of them used weird needles.

I think I have a White just about like that Franklin - I just don't know where and I know I haven't looked at it much. The more I look at that Franklin the more I like it. It turns like a dream. It's pretty nice except for some worn off decals.

On the Vindex you can use a 15x1 by cheating it down a little in the holder and it will work fine. I will show you when wc come to Indy. I do this with my Davis machine all the time.

Yes the Franklin is made by White and is the same machine.
They do sew nice. They both use 15x1 needles

Well I'm going to have to test sew that machine. It is all slicked up & Phil put some shellac on it to protect what is left of the decals.

I haven't tried to make the Vindex sew either. I think it is all there and it was slicked up a year ago. I think the worst part is the tension. It was rusted pretty good and is still a bit rough. I'll have to try and see what I can do with the needle. I haven't looked at a threading diagram yet for either machine.

Speaking of coming up here... What flavor scones do you and Pat want to try? I should go to the store... HHHMMMM Maybe Pat can bring some tomatoes and we can make some home made tomato soup and then let Phil make some sun dried tomato and aged Swiss scones.

Certainly the Rock Creek one would be a beautiful piece of art and practical as a side table even if machine doesn't work, but these machines can be fixed by anyone with the know-how, apparently. I just bought a 15 91 this past weekend, knowing very little about the mechanics, but loved it. Sounds like you're drawn to the treadle since your dad had it. I would take some fabric over there--thread too--. Turn the wheel. Does is move freely? If so , good sign. Decals in good shape? Have bobbin and bobbin case? Instructional manual (that's very important). I would buy it for $30 .

The cabinet is worth more then $30 and the machine can always be fixed or used for parts Snatch it up and give her a good home.

Ultimately, the buyer determines the worth. Would you rather have the machine or keep your 30 dollars? Some folks would see no value in it all. Others would buy 100 just like it.

Well, someone grabbed the one in the OP, so I guess we will see if it was the live4Him.
