Default Would you???

I'm on vacation this week quite a way from home. Took today to go thrifting because my friend and I love it. Found this New Home for $120. Would you bring it home, has the book and attachments and works!!!! Told the lady I'd think about it and might have to make a grandkid ride home on top of the car....LOL!!!! I really think I can make it fit. The lady said she'd had it for a couple of months and the few that had asked balked at that price. All proceeds from this place go to the wounded vets...so kinda an added bonus as far as I'm concerned.....

only if you love the cabinet (I do, but I'm a sucker for a pretty cabinet). it IS on the high end price wise, but if you consider you're giving a $$ donation than why not?

I've overpaid several times for machines sold by Goodwill and a few other sellers that I liked their cause, I see nothing wrong with doing so.

BTW - this is a Free/Westinghouse made New Home machine.

Pretty high price in my opinion. This machine takes the obsolete CC, 40F1 needle, which is hard to find. However, the needlebar can usually be raised 1.8mm to use the 15x1 needle. If the motor is bad it can not be replaced and the motor pulley is quite often found with a flat spot on it from resting against the handwheel. Check all these things out before buying.

I haven't seen that desk style until now. Looks like both Cathys (plural spelling?) have given you the info you need. If you still want it with that information why not get it?

You can find them a lot cheaper than that...but its worth it if that is what you really want. I have two and never use them, but pretty to look at.

Pretty cabinet, but difficult decision for me with the odd size needle. I would have a hard time deciding!

Thanks guys, I knew y'all would be the ones to ask. Think I'll pass and just keep my pretty pics...This is the only sewing machine we saw at all the places we visited. I do love looking at these old machines.

I have bought two of these for under $10 without the cabinet. They sewed great until the needle broke and then DH had to drill off the end to make it fit. Still have the two in my storage.
