January 2015 Piece & Cut BOM - UPDATED
#11
Thank you for the updated thread and instructions - you are the best. My block, unfortunately isn't the best, but I'm sure I'll get better in time. I think I will probably take out the center four blocks and re-do them as that is where my mistakes are the most obvious. I used a 3-1/2" template which made an 18" block.

The other thing I like to suggest is to tack where your seams go. If you tack the edges together and you tack where the seams meet then everything will line up better. I sometimes get in a hurry and don't take time to tack and I always regret it.

Oh I can think of a couple of solutions. 1) take your significant other to the fabric store and tell him what fabric you really want, (you didn't buy it, he bought it for a gift for you) 2) go w/ a good quilting friend to the fabric store and each pick out fabrics you need and buy the other person's fabric as a "gift" 3) swap fabrics you don't "need" w/ a friend who has the perfect fabrics you want to use.

Rhonda - many thanks for your suggestions. I took the center four blocks out and will re-do them. The other mistakes will stay but the center ones were just too obvious. I have the triangles all cut out and will work on this at the quilting retreat at the end of February. I'll post my results after then.

Mine is off the frame and ready to be bound. I've gotten behind in a few other things, but hope to get that done this weekend so it can be hung in the hallway for February (Valentines). I'm quite happy with the results, though it's far from perfect since it's the first quilt I did with my new longarm.

Here it is, not too bad for the first one using my new HQ. Sure is fun, but I've got to learn my technique all over again For the very first time in machine quilting - I got some perfect examples of eyelashing LOL!! Only right at the start and then I got my tension and movement both working better.
I sure do like the pattern. Now I'll be ready for next month!
