Oh Yes, the 1/4" add a Quarter ruler is to me a staple as far as pping goes.. I feel the 1/8" is too small a seam allowance for all the seams in these blocks..the seams flatten out better when there is more fabric to press. once the paper is removed and the seams are pressed they will lay nice & flat.. the 1/8" seam will tend to stand up at the intersections.

I've never used parchment paper..I know Dollar Tree sells it on a roll..Can parchment paper be pressed to lay flat? I would have to cut it up....Is it sold as sheets anywhere?? Hmmmm. I really don't have any problem with the doodle pad paper.. by the way, I love to pick the paper out..

Ooooooh, that star is beautiful You'll have no problem with any paper you use

Honchey--I don't have any issues with the copy paper...it's all I've ever used though.

huskyquilter--that is a pretty sample block

I have a 12" long ruler with the quarter inch lip, also 2 of the 6" with a quarter inch lip and a 6" ruler with a 1/8" lip. It depends what block I am making, they all have a use! I sometimes wondered at first if the 1/8" seam was strong enough but it is.
It has been a few years since I have done some serious PP but am looking forward to it again. Still haven't found the 30's solids and my book hasn't arrived yet.

I have both the 6" and 12" add-a-1/4" rulers...mostly use the smaller one.

sunrise450--for 30s solids, you can use kona solids or I know others use a different company but can't think of it now (Jeanie?)

I just ordered the add a quarter ruler. It looks so handy! So I made 2 more hunter's star blocks yesterday and had a hard time with all the thick seams coming together in the middle and having them be extra bulky. Any advice there?

I found these Bella Solids (Love Moda Bella) 30's colors at the site below. They had loads of 30's fabric. I ordered the 1/2 yard bundle.

On bulky centers, stop a quarter of an inch from the end of the seam, so the fabric can 'twirl' and lay flat...or rip it back about three stitches from the edge.

Honchey, Very north in fact basically can see 3 states from High Point state park right down the road from my place, more then likely a few hours from you although try to make it to varies areas of the shore a few times a summer. The town is Wantage in Sussex Count, what about you?
