Katybob, thanks for the reply. I am doing the BOM from Fabric Fanatics, in Plano, TX. It's batiks with a light background. I actually live near to Stitchin Heaven, and they always have a DJ BOM going--they do traditional fabrics and they have two others right now, blue and white or red and white. But when I saw this one in batiks it called out to me like none of the others have! So now I'm hooked, I'm a woman on a mission. Just can't get this dang printer to work. It hasn't worked for anything in the lessons. Haven't tried to print just a block. Will read chapter 11 tonight and put on my serious thinking hat and see if I can get it to do anything. I just wondered if this is a common problem or not. That's OK, I'm up for a serious challenge right now. Conniemarie

Connie! I'm doing Fabric Fanatics Batik DJ!!! I loved it too. I started one here with the ladies and got VERY behind. So now my goal is one classic Jane, one batik Jane. I was doing really good too when the Batik Jane started in May. Then I visited family in Idaho and was spurred on to finish quilts for all my nieces and nephews for my DMIL. She's 89 and now if I try to sew anything else I feel so guilty. I've finished 10 tops of 29.

I'll be here to finish my Janes soon. We can work together!!! My biggest problem with their BoM is picking which fabric to do with which square. I wish they had picked for me. Now I'm tempted to totally leave their schedule and do the same Batik Jane as I do classic Jane. (Ill watch you:D. )

TR-12 This is a cute tri. For those inside curves on the leaf, I went in from the back and took a look. The green fabric was fraying and very close to the stitching line. So I put a little fray check on a toothpick and put a tiny bit on each inside curve. I'd hate for it to come apart once the quilt is together.

Katybob, I'm still loving the freezer paper you told me about. I have a couple of questions:
1. when do you remove the freezer paper, after you've cut the shapes or after you've sewn the seams?
2. do you cut off the dog ears before you sew the pieces to help line them up properly?

Thanks!
Cindy

Love your TR-12, Cindy -- mine is just awful! And I was thinking your TR-10 could be your "humility" block. And I've also realized after finishing my first DJ (yet unquilted), that I can't remember which blocks I'd meant to redo but didn't, and when you look at the overall quilt, it's hard to find the mistakes or sloppy ones.

I remove the freezer paper after I've sewn the seams. It helps me line up the seams if I've cut a little more or a little less than 1/4" around each piece. I often use a lot of starch on these blocks, and the freezer paper doesn't stick as well on the starched fabric, so sometimes the paper falls off and I have to press it back on. I'm not particularly consistent about cutting off the dog ears, but I think more often than not I don't cut them off.

Conniemarie welcome!! you can join any time and I'm sure there will always be people to answer questions :) I'm really a bad leader lately - first it was an on again off again thing as to whether Jane would make it into our guild's September show.... now it's definitely off and has been for a few weeks for oh so many reasons. I have three quilts at various stations [well....actually multiply by ten or twenty to get the real # but these are possible to complete by our show at least!] and I decided to focus on them when I did sew. Health probs still in question MRI tomorrow along with some other stuff..
At any rate - caught up on a few posts....ahem again - if you do have questions feel free to PM me at any time. I will post one triangle I finished today BR8 - scheduled for last Feb 10 [oh well...] There are another couple I havent posted trying to decipher which??

here's the All Around the Town quilt top...in progress for show

...btw - tried to call you a couple of minutes ago Cindy :) got a simple idea of [should say 'simpler'] fixing TR10 - just remove the square with the "hourglass" in it, replace the long triangle that touches it at the upper left and skootch that section to the right a little. [call me if this doesnt make sense... or on the other hand ignore me if you dont want to do it;)]

L-11 Caitlin's Rose. The book version looks like it's drafted differently than the picture. I made a change on my own, it's not like the picture, but I'm happy with my version. :)

Monica, I also have the feeling I've not posted a few of my blocks. But I'm not sure if I'll be able to figure out (without too much trouble) which ones they are.

I spent most of yesterday working on DJ! Boy, that felt good. Doubt I'll be able to get back to it this week, unfortunately.

Katybob, thanks for the answers to my freezer paper questions. That's pretty much what I've been doing as well. Still trying to improve. I like both your answer (humility block) AND Monica's suggestion on how to fix it. I'll have to think about it. Have a great week, everyone.

PS Monica, LOVE your All Around The Town. Looks like you'll be able to get that in the show, yeah!!

Cindy - Love your Caitlin's Rose - yours actually looks much more like a flower!! You're right the book shows it differently from the original, but I think Brenda has the original as one of the center block variations for L-11 in her software [which I looked at after I realized that several of the original patterns actually appear as variations.] For anyone wanting the instructions for the original see post #2008 - but Cindy's does look more like a flower! I've got to get more of Jane done too!!! your RS13 is making me think about jumping back in - need to try for 3-4/week while getting show stuff ready! ugh.... I was checking tris - LS 8 and 9 and noted a couple of differences again - I like the way Jane's background in LS-8 [wk of June 23] center part comes up to a point - none of the instructions/blogs are like that and it really is just a simple alteration ....bring those two slanted strips of print to meet at the inner corner in the middle of the top section. That quilt has the top ovals/melons reverse applique like Jane, Aunt Reen uses the applique on top option. LS9 [week of July 14 coming up] is totally reverse applique although some of the blogs show it on top. When I look carefully it looks as though Jane attached the vertical background strip in between the semi-circles of print and then reverse appliqued the entire circle behind that part of the tri.
