GGal ... I do enjoy doing the Christmas gift for my "adopted' family. Have done two baby quilts for the great niece/nephews and now a 3rd should be with us by Christmas. Haven't decided what that will be yet. It;s nice to see them appreciate and enjoy them. No horse pulls ... it was six horse hitches and then judged on their driving ability, the matching of the horses, the outfitting, etc. I saw several other classes too, 4's, unicorn, singles etc ... just the 6's are such a spectacle, so has become my favourite! You've been productive as ever! Wonder what you will do with the scraps this time? :) Don't fret on the cataracts ... most times you can go a long time with lens changes before they will have to take action. I was lucky, when that time came, they got me in pretty quick and both were done 2 wks apart.

DublB ... sometimes you just need a break from unpacking to refresh yourself! When I moved I played "games" with myself a bit. I would set the timer and make myself unpack for 30 minutes before I could stop for a break. Lots of times I didn't stop then, but when I did not set the alarm, I would be stopping before the 30! Another I did, would be I had to unpack just one box ... again, I'd often do more, once i got at it, but that helped me get at it!! :D

QNSue ... soft foods ... I'd go for Maple Custard or rice pudding or tapioca! Main course, how about creamed veggies, pick your veggie. I do scalloped potatoes with sliced onions and carrots. Most people have never had it, but seem to like them when they try them. The sweetness of the carrots and onions with the starch of the potatoes makes for a nice mix. Glad you got your new frig and are happy with it.

Anael ... poor you! On the other hand, I am so happy that your Homecare worker is being so vigilent and keeping a good eye on you. I'm sure it seems like it will be FOREVER before Dec. 3rd gets here. :( PLease know I am thinking about you!

Honchey ... yeaaaaaaa for your Bingo wins! Glad that you have been able to do a wee bit of sewing. I hope that helps you feel a bit better in doing it, and not depressed that you can't do more. Is your Dr. gone for relief efforts? Or was he there already? I'm sure there is a lot of support from your area, knowing what Sandy was like. What a sad story about your neighbour. Unfortunately, that seems to happen more times than not. So sad. AT first I went 27, wow, lucky you ... then I realized it was 27 and went EEK!!!!!!! ..........(C vs. F!!!!) :D:D So there;s your SMILE for the night!

CarrieM ... let's hope the pool therapy helps and/or they move for a quick surgery date, so you can get on with recovery and back to normal! So hard for you to slow down, I am sure. I can't help you much with jelly roll patterns, as I have never used a jelly roll. However, two places to look for ideas ... Liz Katsuro as well as Cozy Quilts (California). It was a Cozy pattern that I used for my avatar quilt. They usually have a free pattern on their site for JRs. And lots of free ones on the Katsuro site too.

OKSGlad ... nice to see you fly thru ... and wondering if you are on a Jury? or if they are going thru the selection process still? Did you take your hexies with your? When I was on Jury Duty, the first day I went and bought a needlepoint and had it finished before the trial was over. We spent more time out of the court room than in it!

Good news! ... I worked like a little bee this week, and so tomorrow, I am off WORK! Worked on my Fr♥sty Too tonight and have a good start. Hope to be able to get it put together tomorrow then assess what or if I need anything to complete (threads for quilting, embellishments, batting) and then get those on Saturday when I am away. Then be ready to continue on!!

I really do feel so much better when I am sewing ... just have to figure out how to not have to WORK! :D

oh my! you all dont know how happy I am to see you!!! oh it has been a busy week! sigh.... I get some time off today.... only because I rolled my ankle.

I have been working weatherizing the house and out buildings for wintertime. we are lucky it has been a warm Nov so far... freezing every night and mid 60 during the day.

DRAMA DRAMA at thanksgiving time... grrrrr not looking forward to the holidays which is sad :( I just want to crawl under a rock and stay there! My DH birthday is next week and my littlest DD bday is the 29th :D :D :D I decided to make her a dolly mattress, pillow, quilt, set to go with her doll crib she is getting... it has been slow going, because she is so helpful with the project :D

GGal, No my kids dont ride the bus, I wish they did it takes me twenty minutes to drive one way to town. and that adds up! DH decided he will drive them in the mornings :D which is a HUGE relief for me :D we really arent TOO rural, it is ONLY a two hour drive to Walmart :eek:

Carrie...I agree with Honchey. If it is rotor cuff, it doesn't seem to get better by itself. Hope you can get this figured out sooner rather than later.

Dubib...As long as you are enjoying you new home and have out what you need, the boxes can wait. It's odd how difficult it can be to get rid of "good stuff" even if we know we will probably never use it.
The last couple of days DH and I have raked leaves and barely made a dent in them although there were big piles along the street. It's warmer and forecasting rain so they won't blow away any time soon. In the sewing room, I've changed a layout for one of those long ago started quilts and find I need a couple more yards for binding and borders. I'm doing a 4 patch for part of the border but don't quite have enough of the neutral. Also, I sewed the early blocks on a different machine...the one I traded in... so there will be easing. I use the 1/4 inch foot entirely for my seams and it seems, they are different by machine. I know, I'm not supposed to do that but when everything is on the same machine, I don't have a problem. I have two more project boxes that have lain dormant for too long but I'm taking a break and will be quilting and finishing a crib size flimsy. Leftovers will fit in with Bonnie's latest mystery quilt.
I sent Anael a picture of my November MB and will be sending it out as soon as I spy Mirabelle's.

I do not get doctor's permission until the 21 November appointment for sewing, so I am still *sigh* waiting to sew. Printing off free patterns, bought fabric and waiting.

Tuesday I experimented w/the grid method again. I tried "Tear & Wash" by Pellon. It has 2 layers, a paper one & then the water soluble one. I wanted ta make a 12" block. I drew a 2" grid on the water soluble side w/a very fine Sharpie. Then I placed my pieces on the grid. Now here is my second change came inta the trial. I already know (from other experiments) that you have ta be careful w/glue & water soluble products. So I tried 505 spray adhesive. After I attached the pieces ta the grid, I folded it & realized that the paper on the back was goin' ta affect my 1/4" seam allowance.http://www.quiltinghaven.com/Smileys/default/sad.gif I took the paper off. Here is where my problems began. I could only sew about 2" ta 4" at a time. My needles kept gummin' up. Now I've used 505 several times since I bought it in Jan & never had this problem before. Is it the Tear & Wash & does it need the paper ta be sewn on, or did the 505 & the Tear & Wash react ta each other? I want buy some o' those wipes from the medical supply store that ya use ta git adhesive bandages off with. Taday I went ta 2 medical supply stores & didn't find any adhesive remover. This experiment is for my Nov MB. :) I guess I'll try ta use rubbin' alcohol.

Sorry Dublb I don't have a solution for your problem. When I use 505 spray I let it rest for 24 hours before I start quilting, that way the glue is dry and I don't have it gum up my needle. I hope that makes sense to you.
