If you take it off point, the blocks can truly set closer to the house...and you could do a couple of 'log cabin' strips around each block and it would 'set' the wow factor into the quilt....just my two cents worth, Bev. It is your quilt to do it your way...please. I could make up a couple of log cabin houses so you would have a trio of houses...which is another thought or possibility on it...I have designed and painted on log houses for a lady here in MO.

GardenGal, with all your talent, you could 'mimic' that kit with scraps from your sewing room, except for binding and backing...maybe use the same colors and design each block as they did...just a thought. Print it off for yourself and put it on your 'possibility' list.

DublB ... what a lot of eye candy to take in! Open space in your MB quilt, could lead to some interesting quilting. Another possibility would be to leave more of the blocks on the square, instead of on point.

MiraB ... my goodness ... 3" sqaures with 3 geese each ... I'd be going bananas!! And then trying to keep them all flying in the right direction. With it's scrappiness not looking scrappy, do you do any placement planning? or totally haphazard where they land? It's gorgeous now ... and will only get better as you finish it.

Anael ... eagle eyed that you are, check those geese keep flying in the right direction! :)

JanRN ... thanks ... the story just kind of developed!! The final lonely heart has now been finished and the photo posted in that thread.

GGal ... oh no, another 6" ... I'm hoping that is a NOT here story for me! Sounds like cabin fever is setting in for you ... make plans for the meltdown next week! Yes, you still have 1/2 month to work on that FMQ Booster goal! :) You can do it .. you can do it ... just like The Little Engine That Could! Oh what a beautiful BOM quilt you have spotted ... I like their flexible offer! The fabrics are really lovely and how unique how they have used the border print in the setting triangles. That quilt really has the unique wow factor!!!

QNSue ... You took on a lot and now are feeling so defeated. So allow yourself to reassess, and set those lofty goals free and consider something that is realistic and do-able for yourself. Maybe decide to do the MB, so you don;t feel as though you have that hanging over ...

And now my dear friends ... me-thinks it's time to shuffle off to the Olympics ... and do some sewing!! :):)

dublb - great roses from you DH! My DH bought me a bowl with live plants I'm going to put on my patio table. I think you could cut down on the muslin by adding sashing strips around each block. That is going to be a wonderful quilt!

Mirabelle - another beautiful quilt on the way! What a great way to reduce your scraps!

I finally finished putting all the blocks together for the Celtic Solstice quilt, now need to get to work on the borders. The quilt is out of my comfort zone in the colors - but I imagine one of the grandkids would love it. Bright primary colors!

Yes, Dublb, you received beautiful roses for Valentine Day; thanks for sharing them with us. And I liked your art work on the quilt blocks, too.

QuiltE, I like to challenge myself and learn more every day. I think I can...do so much more if I really try. Finished two MBs today...well, second one is almost done and I am happy with them. Anael has approved on one and the other will be sent to her tomorrow. Bfs are coming down on Tuesday and we ladies are leaving the guys at home on Wednesday and going on a FART trip to Des Moines...if the weather cooperates. We will go to Barnes and Noble, Creekside Quilting Shop, Jo-Anns, and Quilt Block and home again. I drive to the first stop; and get back in the driver's seat at the last stop to drive home. We will laugh and have fun and not have to wait on the guys or worry about them on Wednesday....they are on their own. They may go home on Thursday or Friday, again depends upon what the weather does decide to do those days...and how tired the trip makes us feel on those days.

TW has dh nephew's name on it...king size...50 star sets for that. Sylvia and Dear Jane quilts are too young to be 'assigned' names yet....Fab stars might have a name on them...will wait and see. Undecided about the SYEs and what they will be or how they will go together. Now to relax this evening, and yes, watch some Olympics on TV.

Bev you certainly have lots of options for your MB's

GGal thanks for the link, it is a beautiful quilt but the cost is a little too high. Shouldn't be too hard to duplicate.

Thanks for the kind words on my Scrappy Wild and Goosey, I am going to piece it in quarters, easier to handle. I have all my tiny scraps in a container and just pick, no rhyme or reason to colour,

Thanks to my enabler Quilte I purchase a quilt stand, price was good to I bought 2 one for me and 1 for DD, and this is what I made as my first little quilt. No story to go with it, just pulled what florals I had in my scraps bins and found 4 fabrics that would match, plus greens. So I polished my buffet this morning and rearranged a little and now it has its own place. Thank you QuiltE for being such a good enabler:hug:

Beautiful, Mirabelle, just beautiful. Please do tell me or just email where you found the slashing, storm at sea, on Dear Jane CD. I cannot find it on the CD...or any slashing, just the borders and alternate blocks.

mirabelle 02-15-2014 08:47 PM

NinaSue to print out the Storm at Sea sashing go to the Home Page and click on Print the Patterns

Click Block Libraries a screen will pop up In the left menu section of the screen click the Dear Jane blocks icon and a menu will drop down
Click Libraries again if it appears and click "Good for Alternate Blocks"
Double click on "Square in a Square"
The first block you want is the first one in the upper left corner, also called Triangle Design, this will become the rectangle sashing
Highlight the block by clicking on it Hit Copy at the bottom of the screen
Now the other one you want is the Square in a Square (called Economy Patch) it is right below the Triangle Design. This is the cornerstone block.
Click on it to highlight it and click Copy

Both blocks are now in your sketchbook

Click close at the bottom of the little block library screen

Go into your sketchbook to edit them. Click View at the top menu select Sketchbook
A little screen pops up with the blocks you have chosen
Click on the first one Triangle Design, Click Edit. Click on the Printer icon, Click "print block" I did not choose foundation paper as I add my seam allowance and you can fit more to a page.
A little screen will pop up where you can change the block size. Change the width to whatever you wish and the Length to the same as your blocks.
Click on the options tab at the top of the little screen, click the radial button for "print as many as fit"
Print
Do the same for the cornerstone blocks

I hope I have explained this clear enough for, good luck

MiraB ... Just aiming to please!!!!! It's even more beautiful with the quilting. The feathers add such a nice dimension to it. Looks like you have found the right spot for your quilts to hang .... right next to fresh flowers. Maybe MrMiraB will keep them refreshed? :D:D

QNSue ... looks like you have a good FART day planned with your friend.

JeanieG ... sometimes out of our comfort zone is good ... and we discover a new zone! :D Great progress for you!!

dublb 02-15-2014 09:12 PM

I've decided that one o' the blocks that I make for myself will be just like this last MB for _________. They are gonna be PP. So tanight I'm cuttin' out my freezer paper blocks & templates.

mirabelle 02-15-2014 09:28 PM

QuiltE I wish they were fresh flowers but they are silk:D and just needs a rinse under the tap and good for another few years:D
