Return them, why waste your money.

The only ones I like for burp cloths are the super quality Gerber prefolded diapers. There are two types, one with a foam-style of center panel and some where the center panel is made of multiple layers of fabric. The best ones have the fabric layers and don't wrinkle nearly as much as the others. They are not easy to find; my local Target only carries them occasionally. The last time I found them I bought 3-4 dozen, so I am set for quite a while!

I loved the old gauze ones from back in the 1960s. I can't remember the brand name of them now - but they were rectangular, the middle was two layers of fabric and the selvages were pinked and single layer.

The box was pink, white, and blue.

They were quick drying and "adjustable" - with folding!

They make the best dishtowels and mop-up cloths.

I wanted to buy some more and have not seen that brand for years in the store. I checked e-bay a couple of years ago and they were going for waaaaaay more than I was willing to pay - like $50 to $100 a dozen!

But - if they are not what you want - do return them.

How many diapers were in the package? If you need rags or small batting, fine. Otherwise, return them. Depends on the effort involved, I guess.

I believe they were Curity. I would keep a few and get some vinyl/rubber pants just incase you need them for extras. I had some for both of my boys even after disposable came were on market.
