I used to be a dedicated list maker and on a daily basis added and subtracted from my list. This was during the days I went to the office. Now I just wing it, but the 3 1/2 yr old GGS I care for 4 days a week won't be in mothers day out for the month of August and he has gotten so used to being with other children and doing 'crafts' (which he loves) that he needs a lot more entertaining than he used too.

So while he crafting my goal for the month of August is to learn how to use the Quilting Board. I still haven't learned how to bookmark, would like to create folders, and I don't even know what else is available. I may be sending out desperate notices for how to's on a daily basis. If anyone has some good tips, or the name of your favorite tutorial, post them here and I will be watching. Thanks

BTW, computer language is what defeats me.

My goals are simple. I have 2 Jelly Roll Races that I started about 3854 years ago (that's what it feels like anyway) & I want to get them done. One is at the LA'er now so I'll just need to bind it when I get it back. The other needs both its borders. Well, it may need surgery before I add the borders. I got fed up with it & hung it up in the closet so I'll see how I feel about its size when I get it out again. I also need to make a list of all the precuts I have (so I can keep my eyes peeled for border fabrics) & my sewing room looks like a bimb went off in it so it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to try to make sense of it. Plus my BD is in August so I need to buy myself some fabric for my big day! Whew! I'm tired just looking at my list... LOL!

My GD has 2 more weeks of her month left to spend with us. She spent a month with her other grandmother, who got her on a schedule of going to bed at 2AM and getting up at 1PM! I am still trying to get her sleep adjusted back to normal hours. I think that will continue to be my main goal for the first half of August. Getting a 10 yr old to go to sleep by 10PM so that when she goes home her parents can adjust her sleeping back to her normal 9PM for school. Other than that I am trying to come up with crafts that I have the supplies for that she has the interest in to keep her busy. She is just wanting to play electronic games all day. We were going to make her some clothes until she discovered I don't have anyway to put the words and graphics in neon metallics on the front like she wants. Guess I am getting old - some of these styles really don't seem appropriate for her age. I'll leave the decisions over that to her dad and mom. This child is bored out here in the country with us. I feel sorry for her.

Good luck finding something to keep him happy. My GC range from 22 to 2 and the older ones keep themselves busy. The teens keep their heads in their computers or cell phones and the two year old keeps us running to keep her out of everything. I used to have all kinds of crafts for them when they were of the age to like to do them but as they get older they were not interested in them anymore. But it has been so much fun seeing them grow from one interest to another.

I guess because my grand kids are at my house every week I don't try and entertain them. The 6yr old will tell me he's bored and I tell him to find something to do or I can put him to work. I told him it's not my job to entertain him. He has a grandmother who he only sees every so many months who spoils him rotten when he's there so it makes it harder because he expects the same at my house. I've been raising him since he was born and he just moved out last fall so I don't go above board spoiling him not on things that will end up causing me pain; like staying up late or eating whatever he wants or running to 7-11 for slurpees constantly. We are close and I'm really glad about that. It gives me great happiness to know that if something happens to me that he'll have good memories of me. I pray that I'll be around long enough so his sister will have those same memories too. She's a doll. I do feel for my grandson because we live in town and there aren't any kids around for him to play with. His other grandmother lives in the country and that's a whole different type of life so he loves it; I did too when I was young. When you have the great outdoors you don't need toys to entertain you. He does love to watch my embroidery machine go though; he says it cool how it goes by itself. That is my goal for August is to get caught up on the embroidery projects that are slated for Christmas.

I don't feel confident giving any computer tips because I am computer challenged.I can manage simple posting but not pictures. There are lots of computer experts on here that will give you help. If you go the Help section, you can read through previous posts that might answer some questions.

I would have him draw up some designs for the embroidery machine. Men, even the youngest version of the critters, seem to enjoy the challenge of getting the machine to do their designs.

I manage to hack my way through computers. As for Grandkids. Mine are over 16, except for the youngest, 10. He plays computer and handheld games and watches TV. He is as smart as a whip, in gifted program and reads over a twelveth grade level. He is underweight and not fat, like we hear about on the news. He hops and skips instead of walking. Most adults would like to be as smart as he is.

First thing you need to do is find a "real computer" for your 3.5yo GGS!! Ask me how I know??? LOL They love doing crafts, etc. until you sit down to browse the computer...then "they" want to be on computer too!! Or they will be playing nicely until you get on computer; then they want you to "play" with them. Mine tells me "Get Up Nana, Come play with me!" and he's just 2!!!! No goals for August except just to get through it! Not looking forward to it at all because I lost my DH to cancer last year in August. We married for the second time with him on his death bed 3 days before he passed. We had divorced, then got back together for nearly 6 years, but had just never re-married. So a lot of sad anniversaries for me this month! But I am working on a quilt for my oldest son, getting married next february, so I'm gonna try to just stay as busy as I can working on that.
