The husband is going to the high school basketball tournament out of town for 4 days. Guess what I'm going to do? I have my quilting project all ready to go. I layed in a supply of non cooking meals and snacks. The husband never understands why I get so excited about being alone. He wants to know what I am going to do all alone. He just doesn't get it. Just the chance to sew and not having to stop in time to get dinner on, turn the music up full blast so I can hear it over the hum of the sewing machine. Eating when I'm hungery not because it's 6 o'clock. Stay up as late as I want and not worrying about getting up early to do my normal day things. This is my mini retreat once a year and I love it. ( and i am actually excited to see hubby when he returns)

I can relate very well. My husband travels a lot and I enjoy being home alone. There is just something about not having any schedule to conform to.

We all need alone time!! We are retired, so time alone isn't very often. Enjoy yourself!

When I was raising my kids their dad had equal custody and he WAS one terrific dad, so I got used to being alone. Now when my new husband has work or family commitments I have to try and tone down my excitement. He'll call several times each day and be all lonely and sad. AND I am half listening and half planning what I'm going to do when we get off the phone!!

He understands though because before I retired from teaching he was working shift work and had days off when I was teaching. He misses those days now that he is straight Monday to Friday and I am always here when he gets home.
