Okay every one- my husband thinks this is an odd idea but the more I think about it the more sense it makes to me. Over the course of history Sewing and weapons seems to run side by side- hand in hand. Even factories that produced sewing machines were tooled to make weapons and factories tooled for making weapons were retooled to make sewing machines. Pioneer women sat at the hearth of a dimly lit fireplace stitching together fabric scraps to make a much needed quilt for the coming winter. Right above that hearth or next to it sat a riffle used to sustain the family and ward off danger. In times of need quilts and weapons were used in trade for needed supplies even today there seems to be a continuous parallel.
All that said- I've been thinking about an exhibit/show that featured both- drawing in both enthusiasts. I'm not the one to organize it but think it makes a great deal of sense for one- What are your thoughts?

I like the idea. My husband is a gun collector, and I spend lots of time doing needlework in the car when he is in a gun shop. He reads a book while I'm in a quilt or yarn shop. Wow-the thought of being able to do something together!!

I don't think of guns when I sew. Far from it.

I can totally see a connection! I'd love to go to a show like that, AND might even be able to talk my husband into going willingly!

< hee hee > I think I agree with your husband.

OTOH, it would get more men to come to the quilt show...

maybe promoting it as a collection of primitives would be more appealing vs. the "gun" title.

Primitive fiber arts and primitive weapons on display.

Normally I would agree, but lately I've been getting request for hunting camp quilts! Lots of camo, deer, ducks, and guns!

You have noticed the same thought many have! YES!!!! They both go hand in hand. AMAZING!
Alot of the machinery needed to make a gun, can easily make a sewing machine.
Odd world we live in 'ain't it" lol

I went on a shop hop with my DH recently and he stated that every quilt shop should have a gun shop next door so he'd have something to do. Just sayin.....
