I have four sons and all are married. I was very excited about all them and am blessed to have some great DILs. If you aren't happy about son's choice, then I can see where it would be a bit nerve-wracking. No matter what, you never know how things will turn out so may as well make the best of it. Makes life easier for everyone.

I didn't figure it would work and it didn't. He was 36, she 34. It lasted for 10 years, very poor choice. Being older doesn't make them any smarter. We were 20-him-16-me, we will celebrate 52 yrs of marriage end of this year.

I actually cried when I found out our son was getting married I felt our family circle would be broken he had two children with her and divorced is now married to a wonderful girl I would gladly take on as a daughter with 2 more children.

when I was 47 and my dh was 41 we got married. first for him, my second. my in laws welcomed me with open arms. his mom and me are great friends. it did take work, the marriage didn't take work. next weekend the 9th we'll be married 6 yrs. never a fight or argument. at first I liked his mom, thought she was a bit overbearing, but got used to it. we go out once or twice a week now. she'd the mother I never had, my mom hardly talks to me. my mil calls every day and is a dream. they were so happy he finally got married, so am I. every Friday, we go play mah jongg with my friends, now hers too and we go to lunch. every one loves her, she's so nice. I think I reached out to her first. I don't remember. but it was worth it. good luck.

I was very happy for my Son and completely adore his wife. He is our only and even tho they've been together 6yrs previous to gettng married, I felt a little sad. Not quite sure what that was about, I still feel that way, but I have resigned to the fact that he has a new life and most importantly he is happy. Thats all I ever wanted.
