What would be a great quilt to make as a wedding gift?

how long to you have? I usually get the colors either of the wedding or the new home, and then pick the pattern. So far I've made 5 and only 8 more kids to get married!!

They are getting married on August 13th this year. If I started this weekend I think that I could get it done. Of course it would depend on how hard the pattern is.

Does your son and (soon to be) DIL have some favorite colors? How much time do you have? Depending upon your time and skill level also can make a difference on the pattern you pick. IMHO any pattern works for a 'wedding quilt'.

good luck

Something as major of a project as a quilt, I think it's nice if the Bride and Groom can have input. Their fabric choices, and/or their colours and/or their pattern. You could get them involved for one or all of these, and if not all, then they can still have the surprise.

I made a double irish chain quilt for a couple - they loved it. You only need 3 colors - its an easy pattern but I think it looks very elegant when finished. Just a thought.

My step son got married last year. After hemming and hawing over her favorite colors, I went ahead and made the quilt I wanted to make. If they don't like it, it won't bother me, and I had the fun of making it.

I have the feeling if they don't like it, his mom will probably "borrow" it. She's already taken custody of his 21st birthday quilt, LOL.

after what i've read elsewhere on this board, i strongly recommend you involve the DIL-to-be. Make sure it's something SHE likes.
