I've had the HDX 2nd generation for about 6 months and absolutely love it! I use it as a reader, to play games, and to check email. It is faster and more convenient than my laptop.

I'm disappointed that the Kindle Fire doesn't work with Adobe downloads. It also seems like the Kindle books are shorter than the hard copy books.

I have the Kindle Fire and love it - - I don't think there's a day that goes by that I don't use it for checking my e-mail, going on Pinterest, going on this site, reading books or magazines.......it's a constant companion for me

I have the Kindle fire HDX, but also have the Kindle touch. I use the HDX more for internet (and Candy Crush) and the Kindle touch for reading (it is easier on my eyes). That said, if I want to read while DH is sleeping I like the HDX. DH has the HDX and listens to music -- loves it.
