Default Scam!

Do not respond to phone messages claiming to be from the IRS about a lawsuit filed on you! Computer generated message stating that there has been a lawsuit filed against you. Our accounts office said they get 2 or 3 reports of this every week. Really??...A Phone Call from the IRS!? Ha!

Yes, I've heard about this. The IRS doesn't contact you like this.

I've gotten one of those lately. I also got one a few years ago. As I remember the caller ID said "Alex Smith". It's a scam. The IRS will never call you to tell you they are filing suit. You'll get letters.

If you go to the IRS website there is a link to report the calls, they will document the number that called you and use it to try trace back calls to the number. They also link to other ways the scammers try to get you to give information.

I have had several of these calls. I don't answer unknown numbers but they leave a msg. They never specify a name as to who they are calling. I just ignore it

A few months ago I received at least ten calls from the IRS stating the same thing, some of the calls were from Washington and and some from Florida. They wanted me to respond withing a few hours or agents would be at my door.

I'm still here.

This is a good reminder. DO NOT GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU.

Another scam going around is a call that says a problem has occurred on your computer and to repair it you must turn the PC on.

Stay safe everyone.
peace

I got another one of these calls today. It came from Peerless Network and the number showing on caller ID is 646-568-1992

The IRS scam has been around for a long time. I wonder who is keeping it alive. Poor souls. I did get a kick out of their message, though, along the lines of "Hello. threat, threat, threat, blah blah blah, pay now or we will show up and it won't be pretty..." and then a very pleasant, "Thank you, and have a nice day."
