We stayed in a motel on the way to florida for the winter. Our dogs got fleas. We have given these dogs flea baths twice, sprayed everything for fleas, even the outside area.I have stripped everything and washed it. They keep coming back. We give them vetguard every month. We don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance for any replys.

did yu call your vet. maybe a flea bomb. what a horrible experience you had. good luck

Frontline is the only thing that I have found that works. I have never had them in the house.

I don't envy you a bit. We use Preventic flea and tick colors. If you have carpet get some salt and baking soda. My sister had a horrible problem when she moved into her new home (rental). She spread the salt and baking soda all over the carpet and the other flooring. It burns the fleas and their eggs. She has a shitzu and even sprinkled some on her. She said she saw the fleas fall off her dog. After couple days she vacuumed her carpet and swept the floors. The landlord replaced the carpet. Worst infestation she ever had experienced. But the salt and soda worked because of the sodium.

Basically everything that can be washed, wash. For the things that can't be washed, vacuum well. That means carpets, upholstered furniture, the vehicle and dispose of the vacuum bag in the outside garbage.

Frontline Plus for Lily and Vectra D for Moira. Flea comb, baths -not in flea shampoo for mine, Borax and salt sprinkled everywhere - baseboards especially. Leave several days, then vacuum with a flea collar in the vacuum bag - never on the dog. Cedarcide spray for mattresses and furniture. Then do it all over again to get the stragglers and ones that hatched from dropped eggs. There is an end, but it's not easy.

Not sure if your interested, but saw on tv books for sale by a dr bader about pest control I believe it is the book on controlling bigger pests that addresses fleas. Don't remember exact name of book, but had natural solutions in the title. Worth googling?

We use Frontline Plus. I know once they get in the house it is HARD to get rid of them. One time when I was a kid, Mom and Dad had to bomb the house and shampoo all the carpets to get rid of them. Good luck. If you find something that works, please share!

Know that it will take 4 - 8 weeks to fully get rid of the flea problem no matter what you use because of the nature of fleas - notorious survivors. Besides dousing carpet, floors, upholstery and other hard to reach places with salt and borax, these herbs will also deter fleas and prevent further infestation: pine cedar, bergamot, rosemary, lavender, eucalyptus, citronella, juniper or geranium. You can use herbal shampoos with any of them (or a mixture) to wash your dogs/pets. Spreading dry or powdered herbs in the fleas' hiding spaces will also help.

There is a tablet you can give your pet,goes by weight kills fleas on the body after 30min. ask your vet..very inexpensive and of course follow up with treatments in youre house.....
