Wall Paint
#1
I plan on painting my living room walls this spring and am having a problem deciding on what color. My carpet is light tan, my furniture is in different shades of brown, end tables are dark brown and all the trim is white. Need to add some color and don't know which way to go. Any suggestions? BTW I have white drapes on the windows.

To pick a wall color, I get every paint swatch that appeals to me and then I stick them up all over the room. One that doesn't look good in one area goes away. When I narrow it down to six or so, I start moving them around together. I will stick them all next to the baseboards, then toss any that don't work there. Next I put them behind the couch with a bit sticking up. Out go the ones that look wrong. Then I move to the drapes or whatever until I am down to about three or so. If I can't choose between those by doing the whole round the room thing again, I go buy the smallest size sample I can and then paint spots all over the room. I look at them at every time of day to get the truest, best choice. It drives my DH crazy, but it works. No one can chose the colors you like except you.

In the past I have used the paint chips in several colors that I like, taped them to the wall, viewed them at different times of the day. But recently our Walmart redid their paint display and they now have paint samples, it will do a 3x3 area I think it was about $2.50. If you know for certain that you are painting , its not a waste, I consider it primer, lol. They have a lot to choose from. I am doing a golden honey tone. :-D
