OK, now this is funny. When I bought my house, it had an medium olive green living room. I bought deep olive furniture, and a cranberry, sage, and mauve area rug. I put up sage and olive brocade drapes. It has raspberry carpeting. I hoped the dark furniture would lighten the paint, at least visually. I was wrong. It was so dark, the paint absorbed the light. We called it "the dungeon". You could not read, even with the 4 ceiling lights on. We spent the weekend painting the room a soft sage-ish mint. I am so in love with it now. I wish you much luck with your color choice. (maybe you should just paint one wall until you are sure?) It took 2 coats of primer, and two coats of paint, to cover the intense paint. (the lady who had my house before had a strange sense of color. I had a bedroom that was acid green on two walls, and hot pink on the other two.... )

burnt orange! -- on at least one wall. We painted all our walls cream, bought light tan furniture, light colored wood furniture....then realized it was the most bland house in town. So I bought some area rugs with burnt orange and other colors... :) :) really livened the house up. DH won't let me paint that one wall ....YET!
