    Smile Hello from Tennessee!

    Hey y'all!
I am very new to the world of quilting...I have only ever sewn clothing, but have always dreamed of making quilts! I am a college student here in Nashville (art major) and I am learning to make/making a quilt as part of my senior show. I am extremely excited (and extremely nervous!) about this new adventure and when I found this forum I knew right away it would be a great source of information.
Can't wait to be a part of this world!

Hi and welcome from Las Vegas. I lived in Chapel Hill, TN for almost 3 years. Beautiful state and wonderful people. Glad to have you here with us. The folks on this board are just so wonderful, helpful, aways ready to share and to help. I know you will really enjoy it.
Families are like old quilts....although they tend to unravel at times...each can be stitched back together with love.

Welcome from Minneapolis! I'm a garment sewer too, and the main difference you'll find is that in quilting you'll be using a 1/4" seam for everything rather than a 5/8". Definitely follow the advice to see Missouri Star Quilt Company's videos on YouTube - they're very educational and you'll find Jenny Doan's instructions easy to follow.
A fabric stash is always missing that one fabric needed to finish the quilt on which you're working.
