Your blocks are beautiful--your Mom will love the quilt when you are done!

I agree. I like crazy quilts the old fashioned way with no sashing, but if you want to sash a medium color would be my choice.

I agree with QuiltnNan, traditionally blocks are run together. I am a traditionalist so I always go and grab for my bolt of Robert Kaufman Kona black. I would even try a dark purple or burgundy for the color associated with cancer. Have fun celebrating your Mom's victory. Good Luck !!

I like the black. I use Keepsake Quiltings Amish Black. It really makes the colors pop, and the stitching also, especially if you have used any metalic threads and sparkly beads!! Sometimes I use a charcoal floss and use the Feather Stitch and stitch down the middle of my sashing. I love your blocks they are beautiful!!

I love this look, I would also want the sashing to not take away from the look of the quilt. Very cute quilt.

    I'm auditioning sashing colors now.
One question I have for the people who vote no sashing, is how do the blocks not run together and look all, well...crazy?? Lol.. I mean crazy as in unattractive crazy.
I know some crazy quilts actually appear to be one large block. As they have angles all through out... But in my case, as my squares are symmetrically square, wouldn't it look "odd"?
I will try to post a picture of my friends quilt that she sashed with Fairy Frost black. She then putt a yoyo at each intersection. It's beautiful.
By the way, yes there's a lot of sparkly threads and beads! My lil spider webs are all made with metallics...
    Regards,
    Kif

My vote would be for a dark purple. In making charity quilts for our Guild, you'd be surprised how often a dark purple works as a neutral that "pulls everything together" when using a lot of different colors and prints.

You have some lovely rich browns, rusty colors too. You might try laying your squares on a length of one of those colors to see what you think. My second choice would be a cream.

I would use burgundy or deep violet.
