Yesterday I went thru boxes of fabric samples that was given to me years ago which I had stored. I sorted and trimmed up approx 4 boxes of cotton type fabric and sent the heavier back to storage. The longer I worked with the fabric the more overwhelmed and guilty I felt for not having used it before now. There are some beautiful pieces but no 2 are alike and range in sizes 4x5 to 12x24 inches and also quite a bit that are smaller. I can make some small items, applique etc. But I need some ideas for what I could use the rest for. ? scrappy projects that would look good with no 2 pieces alike. I think if I can get a project going I will not feel so guilty for having set this aside for so long.

Sounds like lots of fun to me! You can do pillows, wall hangings, table toppers, placemats, totes, all sorts of fun stuff.

Oh, by the way, the heavier fabrics are super for use in tote bags.

I like that word "fun" and like the ideas that you have come up with. I think I may be gettin past the guilty part now. Thanks and keep the word fun going

patchwork quilts would work, or what about a jacob's ladder quilt? my mom did one of these with all her scraps (now I don't have any scraps to work with :( guess I need to make more quilts!) but she made a twin sized quilt and each jacob's ladder block was only 6 inches. She bought some red for some of the triangles. I don't have a picture on my computer but I do have the book she got the pattern from. It was given to my third grade teacher and she loved it, it will
take a while to make, but you could always make the blocks bigger.

You just rotate the block back and forth so when you have 4 pieced together you get an x. you can google it too

all the white pieces were scraps, the red was the only thing she bought

I have been there and done that....I think my problem is that I over think what I want to accomplish...sometimes if I just sit down at the machine and just putter around some it will come to me...look thru your patterns not really to pick out something , look at the fabric...I was in a really bad slump basically all winter...we have so much going on at our house with 6 people living there, all ages, and six animals, it just really gets hard to sort things out in my mind,,,,so hang in there...it will come...

you should be able to make any number of scrap quilts - sort your pieces into lights and darks and pick a pattern!
