Years ago I wanted to try PP so I bought a couple books for beginners. Very helpful. Carol Doak is one of my faves . I love to PP because everything is so accurate. The magic happens when you finish your piecing & turn it over & cut your block out on the lines. Have fun!

First thing I purchased, actually was given as a gift from another PPer, was the "add 1/4" ruler" it is priceless. I have since purchased the "add 1/8" ruler" and also the "add 1/4" foot long ruler......all wonderful items to have when PPing. Other than that..ENJOY

This is software with 30 mix and match patterns. Nothing to create.

I took those classes too. One thing to note: Carol Doak is traditional in her approach and Peggy Martin is more free-form.

Right now I am doing the self-mitered log cabin which uses 8"x1 1/2" strips sewn to a paper pattern. (3 lights, 2 mediums and 3 darks) a great way to use up stash.

I agree with ckcowl - go to Carol Doak's website, as she has some very easy "beginner" blocks. She's also right about Carol being considered the Queen of paper piecing, and has written several books on paper piecing.

I love paper piecing, I have two projects going at the sametime.
A hexies in civil war fabric called "Just Judy " by Vickie Bellino and Fire Island Hosta by Judy Niemeyer. Both totally different in style and technique. I love making both of them.

The hexies one is my busy work I take to Bee, doctors offices and travel.

I love to paper piece. I agree with others Carol Doak is an excellent resource. I also did the Carol DOak 50 paper pieced stars group on here. It came out gorgeous. There are so many patterns out there for paper piecing. After Christmas I plan on starting one of judy Neimeyers patterns.

I love PP! I tried lots of different websites and have a book by Carol Doak but found it difficult because I like to learn by watching. The best online tutorial I found to help me see and understand and watch while the lady did it was on Connecting Threads tutorials. I love PPing because all the points come together perfectly. It doesn't have to be done on just small blocks or items. I have made leaves, stars, etc. for large blocks. Try Connecting Threads and go to their tutorials and see if it helps you… imho
Happy PPing! Good luck and God bless.
