Have you looked on Craftsy.com website?? They have some free patterns. I learned from Carol Doak too.

Carol Doak also has a booklet "Show Me How to Paper Piece", with heart foundations that are easier than her "Easy Mix and Match".

I purchased Carol Doak's Paper Piecing class from Craftsy and find it extremely helpful and worth the money. I have it downloaded on my Iphone and recently watched it most of the way through on my flight to California. : )

Jump in! Paper piecing is lots of fun and patterns, free and quite costly, are very available. I like Carol Doak's approach because it is so organized and not hard to follow. Craftsy has some classes and free patterns.

I don't remember when I started PP but that's all I do now! My filing cabinets are full of them. I find a pattern I like & try to draw out a PP master... (but have told myself for months "No more patterns!!!!"

Judy Niemeyer and Carol Doaks paper piece differently. From what you say I think you would be happier with Carol's method. Only because Judy's method the pieces are precut and some say you use a lot of material. Judy's fabrics are all precut on grain, and the theory is the quilts will hang straighter. Judy's method is limited to her quilts. Carol's directions are more versatile. You can also check this link www.quilterscache.com

I agree with everyone writing in today; Carol Doak has good patterns and good instructions.
Paper Piecing is really fun after getting started. Haven't done any for quite awhile but have some blocks to do for guild. So will be getting back into it so.
Enjoy!Mariah

I've made a couple of string quilts that are super easy. Mary Fons on YouTube at Quilty inspired me.
