I like the thin white sashing also.

What about using gray for the sashing? There appears to be gray in some of the blocks. Just a thought.

I agree with a medium gray. another idea (if you want) is since each block has a different final edge, you could put a small black border around each block then use a medium gray for the sashing. It would give the appearance of the blocks floating. just an idea. love the blocks so far.

Could it be that the black reads as too stark or flat? Perhaps a fabric that reads black would help. I do like the black for sashing, just perhaps something with movement, a batik?

I concur with those who thought of gray. However, all of the suggestions would work out. Your quilt blocks are absolutely gorgeous and your completed quilt will be awesome regardless which way you decide to go.

Lovely blocks and it will be a stunning bed cover. How about two flanges one white and additional red or grey ones and the black sashing. I know more fabric and work. Or maybe a red and grey flange.

I look forward to seeing it all put together. Anxious to see what you have in mind for the border.

The thin white borders with the black sashing is very striking - your quilt will be beautiful.

Keep in mind the backing color, thread color and batting color when you make your choice. If white batting would shine through or beard on the black it may look better with black batting. Absolutely would attach the thin white or pale gray to the black before attaching the sashes to the blocks. Again, if the batting needs to be black the thin white may look better as a flange. It is a gorgeous quilt project.
