I bout the kit by Susie Weaver. Two fabric bargello , I am making the Lightning bolt. The instructions on sub-cutting are confusing to me , is there anyone that can help me out? Thank you Elaine

On the chart, they have the number of the unit and the size to cut it; then it has direction arrows, - and + for math help; and Insert seam B for bottom and T for top. What does that mean for B and T?

You will have B pieces & T pieces cut as per pattern cutting directions. Those are the pieces you use. It should be fairly easy to follow if you use a sticky note with the letter specified and place it on top of all of the different cut shapes as you cut them.

I've made this pattern. I highly suggest you email or call on the phone the pattern designer, Susie Weaver. Her number and email is in the body of the pattern. Personally, I think she needs to re-write clearer instructions for her great pattern. Good luck.
B and T means bottom and top of the bargello pattern, where you make the measurements, then the cuts.
This is not your typical bargello pattern.

Is this the quilt??

If others have had problem, don't hesitate to ask the designer espeically if her email address is on the pattern.
Some designers will have you sew your fabric strips into a loop. I don't like cutting because half of the fabric you can't see. To get the movement in your quilt, you have to move the strip down one position. It is easier to do that but un-sewing the seam between the top and bottom fabric of that row. Then I always number the rows as I go along so not to get them mixed up when I start stitching them together. Hope these pictures can help.
Sew your cut strips
Lay out your strips per diagram
Sew the strips together when all the strips have been made.

I assume that the arrows are for the direction to press the seams. When these seams come together, you want them laying in the opposite directions to reduce any bulk. I learn to press my seams open on fabric one, towards the center on two, etc, so that is the way that I do it personally. Good Luck. PM me if you need any more help.
