My son is really into the 70's, "hippy" style things. His entire room is decorated this way.

I've been wanting to make him a quilt forever to match, and I have 3 blocks so far. One is a peace sign, one is Bob Marley, and one is the peace sign made with hands.

I've got some great material to use for borders, sashes, etc. that has some 70 themed stuff on it. I just need some ideas for the appliques on the blocks.

    Any have any suggestions?

VW bus, headbands, beads, bellbottom jeans, large orange flowers, Flower power. I didn't like the style then and still don't. I guess I was just born old. You might try google for more ideas.

How about a Volkeswagon van shape, bell bottom pants, bead necklaces, funky hats or bandanas. I am sure there are lots of other things, but I am having a brain fart right now. (lol)

Yes! I have VW bus on one of my cut files for my Cricut machine!

I would loooove to do the "groovy flowers" but he's a typical teen boy and absolutely no flowers on it. Sigh...I do wish I had a girl sometimes!

How about something that represents the Beatles, a VW bus, pop art, peace fingers, tie dye, psychedelic, mini skirts, the bikini, smiley faces, flower power, etc. I can't wait to see the quilt!
