    Default Color Catchers -- YEAH!

I'm pretty new to this board so I don't know if this has been done to death, but I want to know if others love color catchers as much as I do.

I just bought a lot of dark fabric for my stash at a LQS while we were traveling. I always wash new fabrics before they are allowed to join my stash and I tossed in a color catcher. They're little sheets of something (paper? fabric? I don't know), smaller than a dryer sheet, that you put in the washer with dark things. When I washed the new fabric, a white turtleneck sweater snuck in there and, under other circumstances, it would have been a goner. But with the color catcher, the white sweater stayed white and the colors are great (Wow, just realized I sound like a television ad!), but the little sheet is dark brown.

I've used at least two different brands and have been very happy with all of them. Does anyone else use them? Does anyone know how they work?

Yes, used the same one over and over and over. Works great.

I have used the ones that are just used once then tossed. They are great. I have one now that can be used up to 20 times (I think). I'm sure that will be good too. They are wonderful.

I use the single use one's when I wash fabric and love them. I throw one in even if I don't think the different color dark fabrics will affect each other. Better safe than sorry.

I use them frequently, both for fabric and regular laundry! If they don't change color much, I let them dry out and reuse them. If I'm washing reds or dark fabrics, I will often use 2. They are a great invention!

What's the brand name of the multiple-use ones?

I swear by them. I use the Shout ones and use the same one several times. Great product.

I don't know who developed these. I was probably someone like that man who developed the "post-it note" who was trying to accomplish something else and accidently invented post-it notes. I don't care. But those color catchers sure make life easier! If they're really saturated, I will re-wash, just to make sure I don't have a bleeding problem. If I didn't have them, I wouldn't know if they were bleeding unless I did the old fashioned "bleeding test" (which actually I sometimes still do." And if I don't stop, I'm going to sound like a commercial, but I do like the Shout one!

    Merry Christmas!

I swear by the Shout Color Catchers. Any dark or questionable fabric (quilting or clothing) will automatically get one or two in the wash. I have to buy several boxes at a time to make sure I don't run out.
