Not sure if it would take to long to do, but I am planning on making a Dear Jane quilt in the future, but before I bought the software and everything, I wanted to start collecting fabrics slowly. But before I do that I want to see if the idea I had in my head would look any good on the quilt!!

So I was hoping someone that has the software may be able to try a color palette for me and post it up so I can see how it would look. If this is a time consuming task, no worries. I 'll probably buy the software in a few months, I just wanted to 'see' my idea sooner if possible.

I am thinking about using a dark blue on blue (like navy blue) pattern for the background of the blocks and the sashing and then use a Halloween orange in dark and light shades as a trip around the world pattern for the block pieces themselves. Just let me know if it's too much to ask!! :) :)

    TIA,
    Rachel

I have it but I've never figured out how to do what you're asking. It's been a year or so since I've even opened it. Sorry. Also, orange and blue is our university's colors. After warehousing the Ath. Assoc.'s merchandise for several years that's a color combo I stay clear of-just can't stand it. Sorry.

Thanks anyway!! Blue and Orange are my fave colors LOL, but I don't look at them everyday for work!! I guess if I did my feelings for them probably would change too. :) :)

Rachel..I have it and I'll try to do that for you in the next couple of days ok? Can you let me know "how" you want to do the trip around the world...just start in the center with light? or dark? how wide did you want the strips of color to be?? How many different oranges??...did you want the sashing AND the cornerstones to be navy and what about the tri's? Ummm...it seems that I have quite a few questions.

Oh yay!! Thanks so much!! I am not sure how many gradients of orange I can find, so maybe just a few trips, with the corners kind of being all one shade. The oranges could also have some white in them too as I think it’ll have to be navy blue, white and orange. I am thinking light in the center and dark outside. So far as the sashing and cornerstones, I am not sure!! LOL How about solid navy for the sashing and maybe a white and navy print for the cornerstones? With the tri’s orange for the pieced ones and solid navy for the non-pieced …. Hmmm since you have made this quilt before, maybe you could throw my ideas out the window and use your Dear Jane intuition and come up with something extra purdy for me?? LOL

    Thanks!!!!

Actually Rachel, I am making it with the group on here right now. Its my 1st stab at it...its very addicting.

I'll print out what you said and I promise I will try to do something for you in the next few days. I won't promise that I won't have anymore questions though. I'll play with it though. :D

OK...here is a stab at it. I think you can get the idea of what it will look like from this Rachel.

That looks great!!!! Hmmmmm maybe I'll use solid blue for all the pieced blocks and like a blue/white for the solid tri's ..... do you think that would look good? The mottled blue seem to interfere with the orange blocks definition ..... This actually has me excited to do it this way, it would be fun to hunt down a bunch of oranges ..... I do like how you have some rows of white to balance the orange too .... Once I get my software is it possible for you to send me the file for that design so I can just upload it to mine??

    Thanks so much!!!
