Default class 15 bobbins

Can anyone tell me about class 15 bobbins, for my 6600? Are they the same from one manufacturer to the next? Do I need to buy only from Janome? Or are they ok if I buy from Walmart? Are the plastic ones ok? or do I need the metal? There is a wide variety of manufacturers and prices, so I am obviously trying to get the most bang for my buck.

What does your manual say? If it came with plastic bobbins from the manufacturer, then that's what you're supposed to use. If you use metal bobbins in a plastic bobbin case, you will damage your machine after time and probably have a nice little repair bill down the road. Vintage machines were typically made to use metal bobbins. Walmart bobbins are junk. Order from your dealer or a reputable vendor online.

All of the machines that I use are Janomes. One takes metal bobbins and the other the plastic kind. I buy all my bobbins at Walmart and they seem to work fine in my machines, though in looking at them I can see that the quality of the Mfg. bobbins is much better. As for needles though I must always use Organ Brand needles. The others just break off and I almost got one in the eye the other day when I was trying to use up some old needles I've had around for a long time. No more of that!

Like Rose, I have one Janome that takes plastic bobbins and one that takes metal bobbins, but I only use manufacturer's bobbins.

They should be all the same, but sometimes the tolerances are so close that only the manufacturers' will work properly.

My Janome class 15s are slightly taller than some Singer class 15s, so I stick with the Janome bobbins.

I used to try and use the generic bobbins and had problems. Spend the extra money and get what goes with your machine. I also have a Janome and it's worth the little extra cost to get the Janome ones.

I had problems with the generic bobbins in my Janome 6500 so I only buy the ones from Janome now. Also, if a machine is computerized I was told not to use the metal bobbins as they can interfere.
