For the quilt question - I'm planning on doing one of these too for a granddaughter. I've been playing around with it. I think I may use 2 "prints" (prints are little girl types of fabrics) and then use purple, green and pink for the other patches (including the ones that will be cut). When I construct my first patch I'll pic it for you.
I'm glad you asked this question!!!

Someone on the board had an avatar with only two colors Turquoise and White that looked very stunning. I just finished a small one and it was a lot of fun to see it come together. There are SO MANY ways of laying out your blocks.... GOOD LUCK in making that decision!!!

Here's a couple I did a couple of years ago. They are both three color, and it really makes a difference where you put your darks and lights.

These are beautiful D9P! I attempted one recently, but was not pleased with the early results (too busy for my taste). I've recently made some of the blocks into many house blocks, 15 so far.
Good luck. It's a relatively easier block to complete.
