Design Walls?
I have seen pictures of design walls in magazines but want one that can be moved but takes up little space. Would love to hear from people with a store purchased and/or a home made one so I have info to make a good decision. My floor just does not work for me anymore. Thanks Teresa

DSIL made a frame and screwed 2 sheets of insulation board to it and then I wrapped it with Warm and white and he screwed it to the wall. I think the insulation board is 4x6 -- my LQS has several of these covered in flannel and leaning against her walls and windows -- when we have a class we move them aroun. I made myself a small board that I can move around easily -- I just took a piece of foam board (I am not near my sewing room, so I can't tell you the size exactly, but about the same size as a sheet of posterboard) and I glued warm and white to it.

I purchased 2 flannel backed plastic tablecloths at the low-end store. About $3 each. Sewed them together. I use skirt/pant hangers to hold it up. Now if I only had enough wall space to actually get the whole thing displayed without being squished either side to side or top to bottom. But it works very well for me. And I can just fold/mush it up and stick it in the 'closet' when not in use.

I'm not a fan of my current sewing room's walls, so I didn't mind putting up a strip of sticky backed Velcro. The sew on half of the package (yes, it was sold like that - how cool) is sewn to 2 1/4 yards of cream colored fleece so the wall is 60 by 81. The fleece will hold a quilt without pins and the whole thing can be removed when I need the room. So far no one has noticed a strip of Velcro near the ceiling when it's down. Works for me.

I purchased my design wall a few years back, it's pretty big. When they came out with those removable picture hangers, I decided the most easily accessible place to put it is in the back hallway. I can take it down if I want but I usually leave it up. And if I decide to someday move it, I can easily remove the hangers.

There is the one that is attached to a wooden holder that rolls out of view when not it use
