Default Curiosity- Quilting prices with long arm machine

Hi all. In portugal quilt isn't a tradition and I don't even know if there's a long arm machine in the country

i'm quilting a table runner in my domestic machine, a very simple design I must confess.

so I' m curious about the costs of sending something out to quilt.

I understand that the prices depends the design, but How much can cost quilting a single bed size?

tks

In the southern USA, quilting is as expensive as you want it to be. For a computer run Pantograph on a lap size, it can be as cheap as $50 or $60 plus the cost of the batting. The price can go up to $.03 cents and higher per square inch for a free motion intense, quilt show ready design. I've never heard of anyone sending a table runner to have it quilted, so don't have any idea about the cost of those. A friend did a Judy Niemeyer, paper pieced queen size, Bali Wedding Star and though she got a great price for hand quided quilting....$450. One lady I talked to wanted $600. And, this wasn't supposed to be show quality...just light quilting.

It does depend on the part of the country, as well as the design of the quilting. From what I've seen, 1.5 cents per square inch is fairly common for a simple all-over design, with the price going up for custom work. Sometimes there are extra charges for loading the quilt on the frame or for thread. On the other hand, many longarmers donate their time or give reduced prices for quilts made for charity.

I know that the local LAQ in my area charges a penny per square inch. That is in USA currency. Hope this helps.

Thanks.
That helped me. I had no idea about the prices.

I'm from Iowa. A lady quoted me 2 cents an inch. It seems to vary all around the country. I'm learning to FMQ my own pieces.

In KS simple pantos or FMQ edge2edge is about 1.5cents a sq. inch. Custom quilting (treating each block separate &/or borders separate) will start at about 2cents/sq inch and go up depending on design and density of quilting.

I haven't found any LA in my area that can do decent custom quilting. The computer aided quilting looks okay. I pay about $65 for a queen size to be quilting with an all over design. I have to furnish the thread as for some reason buying any color thread but white or cream seems to be unheard of around here.
