Hancocks of Paducah or Marshell Dry Good?
#22
Jeanne S, I agree with you. I have been to both and Hancocks does have a larger selection... they have lots of name brands, ex Moda, Hoffman for $6.98 yd. Marshalls have a lot cheaper prices but you do not find as many brand names.. If you are looking for Batiks,, Paducah has the better quality... I vote for both places, it just depends on what type of fabrics you are looking for... Also more sewing notions at Paducah.

I've been to both. They're different but both are great. I must say I got some deals and "steals" at Marshalls. I spent three hours there and filled the back of the SUV. Since I do charity quilting, their prices met my needs and the quality is very nice, IMHO. I am still using up a few of the pieces I bought there. They are mixing in with much higher priced LQS stuff from my stash and the "hand" of the fabrics shows no difference in quality. In their bargain bin, I bought 8 yards of a "killer" lime green for $1 a yard that had a little streak along the selvage that didn't take the dye. I hated to see that get used up. Have fun!

I've not been to Marshalls, but have been to Hancocks of Paducah and it was an awesome experience! If you do decide to go to Paducah be sure to allow time to go to the Quilting Museum! Absolutely worth the trip and time.

If you want quality and a huge selection Hancock's of Paducah has both. Plus, for fun you could go to the Quilt Museum and stroll around the cobblestone streets downtown and see the beautiful murals on the riverfront. I don't know anything about Marshall's, but I do know Hancock's and it is great.

I love Hancocks. Never been to Marshalls. Hancocks has a huge bin of their remmants and you buy them at a very cheap price, I have bought tons of Kaffe Fasset and solids from that bin, I'm planning on going down there soon again. You can still go into the back room, it's on your right as you come in the door, and buy precuts. Just a great store.

What a dilemma! I have been to Hancock's and loved it even if it is overpowering for my mind!. I have ordered from Marshall's and I know that you get what you pay for. Sometimes cheap is too cheap-for a reason! When I go to those place I need to have in mind an objective plan for what I want to purchase-otherwise, the massive amount of choice causes me to come away with nothing because the choices are overwhelming.
