Same here. But the original price has to be high enough so when the 40% discount is made, it can't be different than one with a 30% disc.Another reason I don't go to HL often.

Joann's used to do that but now the item has to be at regular price on the day you use the coupon. Seems like there is hardly a time when you can use a coupon as it seems like just about everything is on sale.

I have always used the 40% off coupon on the FQ packets, they are great. I don't shop there much at all anymore as I don't support their viewpoint about women not getting birth control with their health insurance.

I always tell the clerk cutting my fabric to charge me regular price for it. That way at check out they will take 40% off my fabric. A few years ago, the clerk cutting my fabric told me this. I only do this if I am not purchasing another item I would like to use the 40% of coupon on.

I've always had success in using the 40% off coupon for fabric, at any of the HL stores I've been to. I do need to tell the clerk that I want to use my coupon, and they write up the ticket with fabric at full price. I then can use the coupon at the check out.
I love HL, personally! They have so much fun stuff!

Agreed with the fact that you should at least try to ask the fabric clerk to write it down at the full price and then you can get the 40% off. It is a little sneaky, but the best way to get that extra 10%.
That said, their fabric is generally a reasonable price so the 10% difference per yard is generally going to be less than $1 for most of their fabric.
I try to use the 40% off on larger stuff honestly where I get a better discount (more than an extra 10%).
I do understand why they don't want to do 30% off and then another 40%. Say a yard is $10 (to make it easy math), the 30% would take it to $7 a yard and then an extra 40% (off the $7) would take it to $4.20 a yard! They'd have to markup fabric to $10 a yard to get to that price that you normally get on their lower priced fabric already.
I am afraid if too many people complain about the 30% off being their regular price that they will just stop offering the 30% on all and just give you one 40% per purchase. Now that would stink for those of us who buy multiple pieces of fabric on a trip! I'd rather get them all at 30% off than 1 at 40% off!

I printed out the current coupon from Hobby Lobby this morning on my computer. While shopping at Hobby Lobby in Bettendorf, IA I was told that they are no longer honoring the 40% off coupon on fabric. Funny, the coupon I had in hand said it was good on up to 10 yards on one cut of fabric. They told me that they could no longer honor it because fabric is already 30% off everyday.
Has anyone else experienced this....and when did it change? I can see their point...but I think the wording on the coupon needs to be removed before changing the policy.

If you have it happen again, use the link below and get it confirmed. http://www.hobbylobby.com/customer-service/contact-us

At my Hobby Lobby, I ask to have one piece of fabric charged at the full price. When I check out, I have had no problem getting the 40% discount on that fabric. The clerks at my Hobby Lobby are wonderful!
