How Long Does It Take
#13
It depends on how motivated I am to finish the quilt. When I made my son and daughter-in-law's wedding quilt, I finished that in about 3 months (queen size). I have started some that I'm sure I will never finish. I have a short attention span :)

I was reading my newsletter this morning and came across the this thread in the 'How Long Does It Take' link. I am so glad I came across this thread because I am not a good quilt finisher. I every one of my UFO's but I do think that now, after seven years I should have had more than two finished. I am concentrating on quilting tops this year so maybe I will, at last, have my little frog quilt, my scrappy and my jelly roll finished by the end of the year.
I love the journey too and don't have to rush to the finishing line. I am a sucker to learn new techniques and I think that is why I get side-tracked.
Keeps me happy in my retirement though! Thanks girls!

It depends on the design and size of the quilt .. I have finished log cabin quilt tops (queen size) in 2 days.. cutting and sewing also in that time frame.. blocks with multiple pieces no way!! takes about a month.. that is if my dd does not come in with another project to make for our grandson.. LOL!! I have made fireman pjs and a kilt for a 2 year old boy this past 2 weeks while trying to make a quilt top and finish up on another.. boy I am sewing in my sleep.. but when I worked full time I got very organized and cut things out on the weekend and then broke the quilt down into units like sew all the flying geese this week and the 4 patches next week.. makes it more doable if you break it down.. I am retired and have probably more time to sew than the average person. I am fortunate to be able to sew every day. So, it probably doesn't take me as long as most. The ladies in my "BEE" say they don't know how I get so much done. Sometimes it is embarassing how much I get done.
