I'm getting a bit discouraged. Granted I've been distracted by my sister's death and all that's gone with it, and I did chose to start with a queen-sized bedspread ( :roll: ) which probably wasn't smart..... but I haven't hardly touched it in weeks. I'm afraid I'll never finish it - and I've been collecting fabrics/patterns for other quilts I want to make, so I have a backlog already. I don't dare let myself start another for fear I'll never finish this first one.

How do you do it? Does it ever take you forever? I bet you don't let yourself buy for quilts you may never get to.

That's how your stash gets started. Don't get discouraged. I had one quilt that it took me over two years to finish, I just kept putting it away and doing smaller projects. Finally, I got it done and it's now on my bed. Just keep plugging away.

Yep...just little by little and you'll get there. There's nothing more fantastic than sleeping under your very own creation. So hang in there, and maybe do a smaller project in between times to keep the inspiration going. Condolences on the loss of your sister.

I think many of us have projects lined up, as well as a list of ones we would like to do too.
Sometimes I have to set a quilt aside, work on another one, and then go back and work on it some more. It does not bother me to have WIP's :D:D:D

I think I am probably one of the Queens of unfinished projects!!! I have completed small quilts in a weekend, and I have projects I'm still plugging away at after 2 years. I have enough fabric in my stash to make many, many quilts... and that won't stop me from buying fabric tomorrow if I see something I can't live without.
You should do what makes YOU happy!

Well I have to say I have LISTS and packages and kits that I make up all of the time with projects in them that I am going to make SOMEDAY..I do this all of the time..I do put out alot of quilts..but I seem to also add to my pile of somedays just as much...so I am not sure will make you feel any better.....But I think it is part of life...we have to have something to look forward to other wise we will stop..so I keep getting ...INSPIRED!

ROFLOL after I picked myself up from the floor , I can now answer you . Most of us have a HUGE someday list and even have the patterns, fabric and supplies . now finding the time to get this all done, that is another matter :oops:

If you are tired or discouraged and just can't make yourself work on this quilt anymore, the best thing you can do is put it aside , work on something else . Maybe someday you will finish it, maybe you won't and that is ok. It happens to all of us :wink:

Dear Natural, I think that what you are going through is a natural part of loosing your sister. After my Mom passed, there were a lot of unresolved issues. It took my sister and I almost a year to even start putting our lives back together. We had to force ourselves to sew for 5 minutes at a time. We then concentrated on forcing outselves to do more. It has now been 2 1/2 years and we are pretty much back to as normal as we are going to get. Give yourself some time. Things will come around. Be kind to yourself, this, too, will pass. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have only been quilting for 5 months and I have many WIP's.

I put them away to do a lap quilt for my granddaughter and a kit for Quilt for Kids.

I now am starting to a couple of the tops I had finished. I have one that is now up to the binding. Another has to be bordered, batted, and backed. And another that needs three rows then the ususal.

I also have squares started for a queen, a twin, and a couple of odds and ends blocks that I don't know what they'll end up being. I just wanted to try a new technique. Also a yo-yo which I take along on long trips in the car.

All this in 5 months! You are just like us, just keep plugging along. They'll get done! :) :) :)

Depends on the quilt. I have one I've been working on for 2 years now all hand quilted.
