I am so excited. I bought the featherweight machine (serial number AK995827) in almost mint condition for $250. It came with the original black case, a set of 2 keys to lock the case, the original instruction booklet, 7 attachments in the original box, a 4 piece set of buttonhole templates, a funny looking screwdriver and 1 bobbin.

The machine is a shiney black with a gold emblem on the lower right side of the front that reads the Singer Mfg Co. There is also a row of gold decals around the top surface of the base and gold decals on the wheel on the right side of the machine. The machine has recently been serviced and the seller guarentees it to work.

Can someone please tell me which stitch setting I should use to get the best results when I piece a quilt top and where is the best place to buy bobbins for it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Congratulations on your featherweight!!!!!

I like to use 12 stitches for my quilting projects. I have bought bobbins online at ebay but also at my local Joann's. I just always make sure that I have a bobbin with me to make sure that get the right size. Most of them will have that they fit the 221 or 222 right on the package.

    Good luck and enjoy,
    Thanks,
    Sherryl

My local sewing repair/vaccuum repair shop has Featherweight bobbins even though it hasn't been a Singer dealer in years. They don't seem to be hard to find and are easy to distinguish as they are a narrower bobbin than any other that I've seen. Featherweight bobbins will only fit Featherweights and 301 (considered the big sister) Singers. Experiment with your stitch length until you are happy with it. Happy stitching.

Congratulations on your Featherweight-you will love her. I have bought bobbins on the internet-just do a search for featherweight bobbins. I think it was 221 parts (or something very close to that ) where I purchased a bobbin case and bobbins.
