I'll be starting my first customer quilt soon. I have an online friend who's little girl is close in age to my son and she's commissioned me to make a quilt for her daughter's toddler bed. She's sending me a deposit this week and I'll be ordering fabric soon - it's going to be a bright and fun quilt, and I am really looking forward to doing it...it will be so cheery. We spent a bunch of time last night chatting about colours and ideas, and it really helps that what she is looking for is kind of what I had in mind, and appeals to my own tastes...makes it a whole lot easier to do a project when you like what you're working with!

Of all of the quilt patterns I sent her to get ideas of a pattern, she chose one of MY quilts, that I totally flew by the seat of my pants while constructing! So that was pretty exciting! Since I was using what I had on hand for the quilt she liked, I'll have to sit down and figure out my yardage requirements...I wasn't really paying attention and didn't write it down at the time! LOL

Wish me luck! I really want this to go smoothly! I'll post pictures of my progress once I get started. :)

Good luck, when i make customer quilts, i give them a small photo. Album, include pictures of the construcction process, block info, and most important, some of the fabric left.. that way if a repair is needed, they have faabric. Don't forget to add your info.

Congrats and good luck. From experience, you will be nervous because it's someone else's quilt, just treat it with all the love you would one of your own. You will feel so good when you give it to them and they oooh and ahhh all over it. I've even had tears and hugs.
