Check out LQS for possible trade ins when people are upgrading. Might be surprised at what you'll be able to purchase for the money.

Too, have been looking for a new machine. On the advice of people on this board I went to look at the Juki TL2010. The place couldn't get the machine to work right. I wanted to buy from a local retailer in case I needed repair.
I walked away but keep thinking about buying a straight stitch machine. I have two janomes, the 3000 and 6500 and a featherweight.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my JukiTL98Q for both piecing and freemotion! The 2010 is a newer model, but basically the same.

I do love my Juki TL2010Q, I do both piecing and quilting on it.

I have a Juki too and absolutely love it as I have no more "stitching issues". It sews through multiple layers without a whine or a growl, does not chew up fabric when starting, has a beautiful straight even stitch and a longer stitch length (7mm) and is powerful and fast! My only problem is that I can't figure out how to use the automatic needle threader (it's me, not the machine).
