That is why I won't buy anything from Albrands again. I had ordered something from them last September, they sent the wrong one, took 6 weeks to get a return authorization and I finally got the right item in March. It was a Christmas present too.

i hope you'll still write a detailed letter to the highest level of management you can find for allbrands. they may need to either rethink their return policies or retrain the customer service support staff. it all sounds so odd. :?

you have nothing to lose. who knows? they may agree to pay all or part of the repair expenses as a gesture of apology and good will.

See, no good deed goes unpunished. I learned that long time ago. Glad you found an acceptable solution though.

Me too. I feel lots better. I'll never buy from them again. I have wanted a smocking pleater for very long time and they have one for $170 which is a pretty good deal, but the extra amount of money I have to pay elsewhere will be my revenge against this company.

Finally, I have realized I will not be able to return the machine so I hired a sewing machine repairman. I've paid him $80. He is supposed to go to Tru's home and make the machine work. I really hope it can be worked out soon. This has turned into an expensive headache.

I tried, but at some point you just realize you can't win. The extra money is not enough to get my guts in a panic about. I just want her to have a machine she can enjoy using when she is able to get up and do something.

I think boycotting Allbrands is the best I can do. Now, I need to find a smocking pleeter that I can afford from somewhere else.
