All that really matters is the big smile on your DGS's face when he sees his 'Mator quilt...
Forgive her blunder, and focus on his grin and on the next quilt for him, as he will probably wear this one out taking it with him everywhere  :D:D:D

Forgive and forget. He's the one that matters and he'll know the love that's gone into his quilt.

He will love his quilt from Gramma...trust me. I made a quilt for my grandson's b-day with a large panel in the center. Panel or not, they are all real quilts. He'll love it! Sorry she said that, I've had things like that said to me. Some people don't undrstand.

Does MoM sew? I can't imagine a panel not being considered a real quilt...there is so much more that goes into it..

I'm sure he'll love it. I think panels are great for kids because they have their favorite characters on them.

Oh I'm sorry :( I know that had to hurt - but.. I know kids are funny about their characters. I think you did the best using a panel! I tried to applique Barney years ago and the color was all wrong plus it didn't look exactly like Barney. I love your idea of putting the world on the back. He will love it and that is ALL that matters!

big hugs and you will know you did the right thing when he see's his quilt for the first time :)

I worked harder keeping the panel from getting wonky than I did on his other "real" quilts! Kinda hoping he likes it just cause his tomater is on it. do any of you feel it is crappy to use a panel? I used the world on the back so when he is older, or now, he can look at the map and know his dad Army-deployed, is There.

She must not sew. Using a panel is so much harder that any other method. I can never get them straight!!!! He will love it and it is a "Real" quilt!

I make a lot of quilts with panels because of the panel. Kids love the disney characters and I cannot imagine having to make him freehand. It will be a perfect quilt and remember the little one will not care how it was made just that you made it!
