I really wish my foot peddle was more responsive. I was thinking earlier it's like being used to an 8 cylinder car and suddenly driving a 4 cylinder, having to practically smash it to the floor to get it to sew.

Okay it's not that bad, but it's definitely not like driving a car where the slightest pressure gets it going. And sometimes I can get it to start out slow, sometimes it starts out a little too fast for me!

Are there more responsive foot pedals out there?

I have an older Viking that I have to hit it in a certain area most of the time. It's a big petal (maybe 6X9). Also check to make sure it is plugged into the machine and the wall socket all the way.Mine has fallen out before. Another thought, does your machine have different speeds ? Good luck

Different speeds? The further I press the peddle the faster it goes LOL

It's a Brother LS 2125.

I haven't used a foot pedal in over a year. I haven't missed it at all. I got a new machine last year that has the option of just pressing a button to go. So much easier to regulate the speed. It also has a auto needle threader and a scissors button. It all makes sewing a lot more enjoyable.

My Brother has a speed control.......I think that is what she meant. It's like a governor on the motor.

I get cramps in my feet when I use a foot pedal for too long at a time. My wonderful husband hooked it up to the leg of the sewing table he made for me so I can work it with my knee. I have no pain and much more control. I love it and Him.

I use a piece of a 2 x 4 in front of the foot pedal and find it easier to control the speed and my foot is on a more natural angle. Saves getting cramps in the foot.

Sounds like the electrical contacts in the foot need
attention.

I do think they wear out. I just received a new one for my featherweight. My old pedal was fixed more than once and worked a few times. Wish me luck; I am getting her ready for a class this week!

I have 2x4 in front of my pedal and it does indeed allow me to hold my foot at a more natural angle.
