Default No Freezer Paper in the house

What can I use in place of freezer paper?

I have to iron it on to the right side of my fabric, then cut out my applique pieces and place them on the foundation. Is there a subsitute for it?

For the life of me, I can't think of anything else to use, something like steam a seam will leave a reside on the fabric after I remove it.

Any ideas?

Do you have a glue stick? You could rub glue stick on plain typing paper and stick that to the right side of your fabric. I think you could even iron it. Might want to test the ironing on a scrap to see how easily the paper removes afterwards.

Freezer paper can just be peeled off. With glued typing paper, you might need to moisten the paper with water to soften the glue before you can peel the paper off. Might want to test removal too before going all out on the project.

I think Elmer's white washable glue would work too, but might be messier.

Could you use Glad Press N Seal? Or could you use basting spray on printer paper? I've not tried either one of these for applique but I know the Press N Seal does stick to fabric and we drawn on.

Take some tape and make a "circle" or ring, so that it is sticky all the way around. Put that between the paper and the fabric.

If you have a package of paper for your printer/copier, the wrapping paper that the printer paper is wrapped in can be substituted for freezer paper. The inside of the wrapping paper is coated to keep the printer paper dry and it works just like freezer paper! I am not sure if all brands are coated this way, but all of them that I have tried are!

What about wax paper? Could it be a substitute? It can be ironed & will peel off. The only drawback would be if it left a waxy residue.

Plain old time wax paper works also.
