I don't have a budget, but I have been real good this year about not buying fabric for myself. I have a home business, and I buy fabric for that.

In the Netherlands we pay about 12 to 21 euro's for cotton quiltingfabs. Thats about 17 to 32 dollars per metre. A yard is 1.09 metre. But most of the time I save my pocketmoney and buy only when there is sale or I go to the market and buy cheap cotton fabrics there.

I do love the Dutch chintzes from "Den Haan en Wagemaker" so much but unfortunailly I can't afford them. Chintzes have prizes from about 28 euro's!
Look over here, they have amazing fabrics!

Rose Hall,

For some reason my husband's budget goes a longer way than mine too! I think it's the lunches out with friends that are getting spendy. He usually has money left at the end of the month, where i usually am waiting anxiously for the new month's allowance. I like being on a budget tho, it makes me more mindful of the things I do buy and how blessed I am to be able to have the things I do have. Also makes me mindful of sharing those blessings with those who are not as fortunate. Thanks for all these notes on this topic. Lots to think about.

(We both trust each other that the money is not going to be used in the wrong way...like for drugs or for a gambling addiction.)

My husband and I are using the Dave Ramsey plan too!!! It is so freeing not to argue over money!!

I agree! We are working with the same plan. It is freeing not to argue over where the money goes - whether for fabric or fishing tackle!

Between hubby's smoke'n & golfing, my fabric expenditures aren't so bad *giggles*

Just saw this and I have to say that I could sew for a loooong time on my stash! And this Christmas, all the gifts are from the stash. But I don't charge anything, and I am going to go to my LQS this afternoon! My budget varies, but I am retired, read that limited budget, and single, so I must behave myself!
