Quilt CAD software
#11
Hi Emily,
You got it. QuiltCAD is a design software for the computerized HQ. This is so you can design your own quilting patterns - either for edge to edge or for motifs [individual blocks.] Once you learn it you'll love it.
EQ is for designing the quilt. Although it does have a quilting function, that I don't use.
Have fun.

So, it is now almost a year later. Did you buy the Quilt CAD? Or EQ7?
I have a longarm and am looking for a computer program to design and print pantographs and can't decide between EQ7 and Quilt CAD.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Cathy

The QuiltCAD is for use with the ProStitcher and comes with it from HandiQuilter. I don't know if it works with any other computerized quilting system. I have had fun playing with it. Will be taking a class in it this summer. I have had 3 eye surgeries since last year so there was a LOT of time where I wasn't quilting/sewing. Still not really doing much yet ... which is why I watch the QB so often right now.
I literally use the EQ6 [I don't have the EQ7 version] a lot for designing quilts and giving colors and fabrics a 'audition' before actually even thinking of making a quilt. Right now I mainly use it for friends. It does a great job in fabric calculation, printing paper piecing sheets, and giving rotary cutting templates. It makes it easy to see the finished size and figure out if I want sashing or multiple borders and such.
Hope this helps.
You can PM me if you want more info.
