I have used serger thread for piecing, but find it breaks on my quilting machine. I haven't been able to keep it together for that use at all.

Serger thread is too fine a thread. You have put too much time into your projects to use the wrong thread in the quilting process. I have used connecting threads brand threads and YLI brands with wonderful results. I am sure there are other brands but any serger thread is too thin.

Superior threads is a great brand also and the newsletter is fabulous.

I agree with the other quilters, make sure you are using a thread strong enough to run in a longarm machine and if your quilt is going to be used a lot, you'll want a thread that can withstand the use.
