Oh, this is really good info, thank you! We were originally planning to check out of the hotel in Redmond on the morning of the Sisters show, spend the day in Sisters, and then leave directly from Sisters to go to Portland (we are road tripping so we have our car). But maybe it'd be smarter for me to leave DH in Redmond to do whatever he wants to do, take the bus over to Sisters, and then just call him to come pick me up when it's time to go. Hmmmmmm!

I'm so looking forward to this trip!

I missed last year but the years before you can definitely get bottled water readily available if you run out. They have them all over the place for refills. Great places to get food including the Lutheran Church in town that hosts a nice luncheon complete with pie if you so desire. N/A Nice shady places to rest whether under canopies or trees... if you are able to cover the entire realm of quilts good luck! lol
Do check out the Redmond Event; http://www.oregonsummerquiltexpo.com/ it will have all different types of crafting including quilting,.. again N/A
Above all, just ENJOY the experience! It is AWESOME!!
I'm confused...sorry, what do you mean by 'N/A'? "Not available"? "Not applicable"?

Getting their early is my advise, it gets very crowded as it is a very small town and parking also gets to be a big issue. Also it gets hot. I have been a couple of times but have heard locally that most quilters don't send their special or good quilts because some of the quilts are low enough to be touched and chocolate ice cream cones can do a lot of damage to a quilt.
My biggest problem is that you can't hardly get into the quilt shop, we drove to Bend to get fabric and still had to wait in line for 1/2 an hour. Maybe it is a good novelty thing to do, it gets a lot of press, and yeah it is nice to go once.

the old fashioned burger joint on the west end of town has excellent ice cream and burgers. If you are a camping type, there is a rustic BLM campground on the Old McKenzie Hwy about 5 miles out of town that has a nice spring.

Yes, you must wear comfortable shoes as here's lots of walking. I went really early & parked right downtown, even helped one of the vendors unload her van. Food from grocery store is great & fresh & not a long wait like restaurants. The city park was a nice spot to rest & eat. The hanging quilts are everywhere you look & there beautiful the entire town gets involved. Have a great time.

I agree with all the comments from everyone else. Especially about wearing very comfortable walking shoes. Some of the quilts are for sale in Sisters. I didn't know that before I went. There are several shops & tent areas with quilting patterns, material, etc for sale. I took those fold up lightweight bags that would fit over my shoulder to carry stuff with. The Sisters quilt show tee shirts are found in several sales areas. If I could go again this year, I would!!!!!
I agree, went for the first time in 2013. took the bus from the quilt expo, excellent!!!

I like early! What time is early? (I tend to wake up around 4 AM, DH sleeps until 9, so "early" is really a relative term in our household!)

Long lines are almost a good thing...will keep me from impulse buying! Mostly I just want to see the quilts; I've never been anywhere where a whole town turns itself into a quilt show.

So...sounds like I need to bring comfortable shoes, sun hat, cool clothing, water bottle, and a backpack with some protein bars in it! And a camera too, of course. Seems like over the 3 days of shows I'm probably going to do a LOT of walking! Thank goodness for artificial hips and foam inserts! LOL

" Make sure you know where you left your vehicle! We saw more than one person wandering around trying to find theirs"

One helpful hint: once you have parked, take pictures with your phone of where you are parked. Include any stores, signs, etc., that will help you locate it later.
