Have you attached the walking foot correctly? The little arm has to go around your needle bar or rest on top (Janome). If that isn't happening the walking foot doesn't engage. Do you have the correct walking foot for your machine? Not all generic walking feet will work on every machine (Husqvarna & Bernina only take their own). Lastly the walking foot could be defective (I had one that just wouldn't work). Hope you get this figured out soon.

I have had two walking feet for my Brother SQ9000. After about a month, it started making a slapping sound. I was always having trouble with some puckers with mine too. After the second one started making the slapping sound right in the middle of quilting a quilt, I took it off, put my 1/4 inch foot on, and it sews so much better......no more puckers, so I gave up on a walking foot.
