Default What Happened to Sapphire?

What happened to Sapphire as color of the year? I haven't seen any anywhere, whether in quilts or decorating. Seems to me that gray has taken over as color of the year. Have I missed something?

Radiant orchid was the 2014 color of the year. It does in fact look pretty good with gray.

I like saphire better

OOps, my mistake! Thanks for the correction. No wonder I haven't seen any sapphire!

Sapphire is my preference! Gray is ok with a few colors but I'd the Royal Jewel tones over gray. I didn't realize thee were a color of the year!

I just got a postcard from Sherwin-Williams Paint Co saying that the color of the year 2014 is "Exclusive Plum"

It is a very sophisticated looking grayed-out bluish purple. Rather nice, I think. A kind of Vistorian-looking color, subtle mauve.

There are many colors of the year, depending on whom you ask. RST is correct, however that Radiant Orchid is the color of the year according to Pantone, who is the authority on color. If you are looking for sapphire, check out the 2013-2014 color of Fiesta by Homer Laughlin - www.hlchina.com . They call it Lapis, but it is a nice deep shade of blue. They will be announcing their newest color in a few days at the home show in Chicago.

I prefer sapphire .... just painted over the plum walls in my bedroom with a muted sapphire and need to make a new quilt for my bed.
