I put mine on my kitchen island (higher than my tables) and spray. After I have worked the fabric out from the middle, I pin about every 12 to 18 inches. Works for me. Can't do the floor thing anymore because of my back.

I lay my pieces out on the ping pong table. Tape the back down it doesn't move add the batting and finally the top. I then use the curved saftety pins to baste every 3-4 inches. I sit in a rolling typing chair and work as far as I can reach. Then I untape the back and roll the already basted quilt toward me until I can reach another area that needs basting. If you want to leave a little space under the quilt to add basting you can slide a cake cooling rack underneath to hold the fabrics up off of the table. They actually make a plastic grid like gadget for that purpose that I have seen for sale at big quilt shows. The cooling rack works just as well. I am lucky enough to have the ping pong table but any large table would work.

I pin my quilts about every 3-4" on my glass topped dining table, I clamp the backing, batting and then top, putting clamps on each layer and pin like crazy, table isn't very large when I'm done with all on top, I move it to another section and keep on going until it is all pinned. I am going to buy bed risers to put under table legs to raise it, so my back and hips don't hurt as much. I'll remove them when done. I make mostly full - queen size quilts. This works for me.

I use my cheap cutting table from Joanns and move the quilt as needed. Works for me. I also pin and use the white table clips that fit the edge of the cutting table.I have used the black stationary clips but they are bulkey. I love the bent pins with the plastic covers and the quik klip they really make pinning easy.
